Wis. Woman Killed By Sweeper In Airport Crosswalk

ONTARIO (AP) ― A Wisconsin woman in an airport crosswalk was struck and killed by a maintenance motor-sweeper at Los Angeles/Ontario International Airport.

Reyna Rivera was killed Monday in the car rental return area.

San Bernardino County coroner's office spokeswoman Sandy Fatland says the sweeper was traveling about 15 mph when it hit the 20-year-old Madison, Wis., woman.

Police Sgt. Michael Caldera says Rivera was crossing the road in a marked crosswalk at the time.

Rivera was taken by helicopter to Loma Linda University Medical Center where she died at 10:14 a.m.

The sweeper driver was questioned. Airport spokeswoman Maria Tesoro-Fermin says there will be an investigation.
