Bigfoot Claim Revealed As A Hoax
Frozen Carcass Was A Rubber Ape Suit
ELWOOD, Indiana (CBS13/AP) ―
Believe it or not, the latest claim that the legendary creature Bigfoot had been found and was being stored in a freezer is a big hoax.
Over the weekend, the group called Searching for Bigfoot, Incorporated got its hands on what they believed was the frozen Sasquatch. They say they it came from the men who claimed to have found Bigfoot in the woods of northern Georgia.
But as the ice began to thaw, the group discovered that the frozen remains were actually a rubber ape costume.
Searching for Bigfoot is now planning to take legal action.
On Friday, the two men who claim to have stumbled across the purported Bigfoot corpse stood by their story at a news conference in Palo Alto during which they offered an e-mail from a scientist as evidence and acknowledged they wouldn't mind making a few bucks from the "find" they had kept stuffed in a freezer for over a month.
Matt Whitton, an officer on medical leave from the Clayton County, Georgia Police Department, and Rick Dyer, a former corrections officer, announced the discovery in early July on YouTube videos and their Web site www.bigfoottracker.com.
