The Scoop: The Shug

COMMENTARY (CBS13) ― The Scoop broke the story about Northern Californians having to get accustomed to the Kevin Johnson man-hug – the greeting perfected by Sacramento's new mayor. It's not a hand shake or back slap, it's something in-between.

People in Johnson's inner circle saw our story on the man-hug, and they were blown away. They tell me the man-hug reveals your status with Johnson, whether you're in or you're out with the incoming mayor.

Johnson insiders have their own name for the man-hug: They call it the Shug. If you get the Shug, you're doing great, and the boss likes you. If you just get a normal handshake from Johnson, you're not doing so well and you need to work harder.

Beware: Not everybody gets the Shug. It's a special bonus.
