The Scoop: New Age Protests

COMMENTARY (CBS13) ― When you think of protests, you might think of picket lines and violent clashes, but are the days of hard-hitting protests over?

In the bad old days of labor disputes, terrible things happened -- goons came out, bombs went off, people were injured and even killed.

How times change, at least here in Sacramento. Here we have a peaceful, kinder, gentler labor dispute, a new age picket line.

These guys are picketing a restaurant project on 16th Street. I'm not sure what their beef is, but I'm sure it's important to them. But hey, check this out: The centerpiece of their protest is a giant, inflatable dinosaur. It obviously symbolizes… uh, something…

With Labor Day upon us, come on down and check out the newest, family-style protest, complete with a blow-up dinosaur. Bring the kids, they're sure to love it. Maybe at some point, the picketers will fire up a bouncy house.
