The Scoop: Mayor's Race

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― Behind the scenes here at City Hall, Sacramento Mayor Fargo and some cronies on the city council are trying to get the city's office of Public Safety Accountability to investigate the way the cops handled those allegations last year against the mayor's opponent, Kevin Johnson. These elected officials know the cops did a professional job - but remember, this is all about politics.

I look at politics as sport. But sometimes, the game gets out of hand. That's the case now - with the mayor messing around with the integrity of the Sacramento Police Department. This is about political gain, and it's dangerous game to play when you're dealing with public safety.

The office of Public Safety Accountability is there for you, the public, not for political games. If it's used as a political tool, it can't work. The same goes for the police department. If Mayor Fargo wants to destroy the integrity of public safety in Sacramento, she's doing a great job.
