The Scoop: Kings Moving Next Door?

SACRAMENTO (OPINION) ―
With plans for a basketball arena at Cal Expo looking dismal, promoters are searching for a new location for a new home for the Sacramento Kings. And guess where the No. 1 location is? It's here - right next to Arco Arena.
Some Sacramento City Hall insiders are still hopeful an area can be built in the old rail yards along the Sacramento River. But that plan would require way too much public money, starting with the reconstruction of Interstate 5 near Richards Boulevard.
So, insiders tell me the search is moving back here, where the city of Sacramento owns 100 acres next to Arco Arena. Financing the building is still a huge hurdle, but with only about 12,000 people attending Kings games these days, parking won't be much of an issue.
