The Scoop: Kevin Johnson's Tutor

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― For weeks, we hounded Kevin Johnson about when he was going to debate the issues in the Sacramento Mayor's race.  Now we know its coming and tonight I have the scoop about who is giving Johnson his lessons.

Kevin Johnson has a tutor – maybe the best in the history of Sacramento mayoral politics.  Kevin's tutor knows more about the inside workings of City Hall than anyone.  He's former City Manager Bob Thomas.

Thomas left City Hall more than two years ago, but even people who don't like him admit he knows more about the detailed inner workings of local government than just about anybody.  He's a consultant now, and happy to share his insider's knowledge with Johnson.

Thomas and Johnson have been spending the last few weeks going over every detail of how Sacramento works.  If you've been wondering why Kevin's in no rush to debate, here are the reasons – he's way ahead in the polls and he's busy getting up to speed with the help of his tutor, former Sacramento City Manager Bob Thomas.
