The Scoop: Firefighters Raises

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― I've been telling you about some behind the scenes maneuvering to give firefighters in Sacramento a new contract. Well, the deal's done. Firefighters are getting a 10 percent raise over two years. And a lot of them will get 17 ½ or 19 ½ , depending on their duties.

Now the fun starts. The firefighters' union has been off it's endorsement in the mayor's race because they wanted to see what kind of a deal they got – and whether they owe Mayor Heather Fargo a favor for taking care of them.

Fargo has been putting a lot of pressure on the firefighters, because she's desperate for some new endorsements. Oh, where's the money coming from for those pay raises? Half of it- about $7 million – is in the budget. The rest comes from reserve funds.
