The Scoop: 55 Degrees Closing

COMMENTARY (CBS13) ― Some happy and sad news on the culinary scene around the Sacramento Valley this week. Legendary grocer Darrell Corti saved his grocery store from closing, but one of Sacramento's best restaurants, 55 Degrees on Capitol Mall, is shutting down.

55 Degrees was one of the coolest places in Sacramento, featuring a modern French flair. But they were probably too hip for a town that still goes crazy over pizza, pasta, mashed potatoes and rib-eye steaks.

55 Degrees was hoping to cash in on a couple of condo projects that never happened along Capitol Mall - the Aura and the Towers. And with the lousy economy and people cutting back, 55 Degrees is not going to be the last local restaurant to fold in the next few months. At least we still have Corti Brothers.
