The Scoop: Old Sac's Expensive New Attraction
R.E. Graswich
COMMENTARY (CBS13) ―
Old Sac is getting a brand new attraction, something that everyone will use. I have an exclusive scoop on the bucks paid for the bathroom.
I'm standing in the middle of a quarter-million dollar toilet. That's right. The City of Sacramento is ready to spend $244,000 on a bathroom right here in Old Sacramento a state of the art public restroom for the waterfront.
Did I mention the city is broke? Did I mention Sacramento is facing a $200 million budget deficit over the next five years, and is laying people off and putting fire trucks on the sideline to save money? Well, all that's true. But we all need toilets and everybody can understand the need for more restrooms in Old Sacramento.
Still, this one is going to be one heck of a toilet 432 square feet in total, costing the taxpayers $244,000. Make sure you try it out; just to make sure the city's getting its money worth.
