The Scoop: Willie And Kevin

COMMENTARY (CBS13) ― Old-timers around the State Capitol are getting nostalgic these days about an old friend – former Assembly Speaker Willie Brown. The old-timers are seeing a lot of Willie's tricks in a new politician, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson.

Willie always been a genius at political games, and Kevin has been very smart to hold several meetings with the wise old politician down in San Francisco. The men have taken a liking to each other.

Willie loved big, splashy policy summits – so Kevin's been talking about Education and Gang summits. And Willie loved working with staff in a big open room, where nobody could pin him down. This is where Kevin's "bullpen" workspace at City Hall comes from.
