The Scoop: K.J. Chauffer
R.E. Graswich
COMMENTARY (CBS13) ―
When Mayor Heather Fargo had cops hauling her around town, providing taxi service, Kevin Johnson thought it was a waste of taxpayer money. But now that he's king uh, I mean mayor Kevin's wasted no time getting his own police escort service.
The service began about a week into Kevin's reign. I tried to talk to him about it, but he said we could talk about it another time. Word is, the police brass want to provide the taxi service so they can cozy up to Sacramento's new monarch.
Question is who's going to pay for Kevin's taxi? The chauffer service uses retired cops and costs about $67,000 per year. The police department's broke, and the city's pushing towards insolvency. The only person who seems to have money at City Hall is Kevin. It's good to be the king.
