The Scoop: Expo Arena

COMMENTARY (CBS13) ― Time is running out on the Cal Expo basketball arena plan, and the prospects for moving forward with a makeover at the State Fair are dismal. I've heard reports from several insiders who say they have no hope that a new arena for the Kings can be built at Cal Expo.

The Scoop has been telling you for the past year that Cal Expo won't fly as an arena site. The State Fair needs a make over, and the idea was to use the arena project as a way to generate cash for the fairgrounds.

But the poor economy and tight credit market essentially wrecked plans, with the official word expected later this month. On the other hand, there's talk about another site for a new arena. I'll show you the location in the next Scoop.
