The Scoop: Bloomberg In Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (EDITORIAL) ― You wouldn't expect the mayor of New York City to get involved in the race for Mayor of Sacramento. But this is no ordinary election year. In the next few days, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will jump right into the middle of the Sacramento race. That's right, it looks like he's coming to town to help candidate Kevin Johnson.

It will be the first big fund-raising event this season for either side in the race for the mayor's job. Mayor Bloomberg, who also happens to be one of the wealthiest men in America, is set to attend a party for Johnson at the home of Sacramento businessman Angelo Tsakopoulos.

Johnson's opponent, Heather Fargo, admits it's tough to run against a guy with name recognition and money. Johnson is a former pro basketball star, and brought Magic Johnson to town during the primary race. Johnson runs a school in New York, which is how he became buddies with Mayor Bloomberg.
