Lincecum Hospitalized, May Be Out Of All-Star Game

NEW YORK (CBS) ― San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum was being treated Tuesday afternoon at a New York hospital for dehydration, making it questionable whether he would suit up for the evening's Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.

A San Francisco Giants spokesperson confirmed to CBS station KPIX-TV in San Francisco that Lincecum had complained of flu-like symptoms at his hotel prior to the planned All-Star red carpet ride through New York City. The Giants' pitcher was then taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Lincecum, a 24-year-old right hander in his second major league season, last pitched on Sunday, going eight innings in Chicago and beating the Cubs to run his record to 11-2 with a 2.57 ERA and 135 strikeouts. This was his first All-Star Game.
