Protests against Chinese rule started peacefully in Tibet's capital, Lhasa, during the week of March 10, 2008, and oftentimes erupted into riots, drawing a harsh response from Chinese authorities. Dozens of deaths have been reported, and protesters from all around the globe have been showing their support for a free Tibet.

Bear Cub Rescued By Firefighters

"Li'l Smokey" was rescued by a firefighter Thursday, July 17, in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest west of Redding. He is suffering from serious burns on his paws and was dehydrated, but the cub is expected to do just fine. Isaac Hayes, singer, songwriter and musician was best known for his "Theme From Shaft" that won Academy and Grammy awards. He also was the voice of Chef on the television show "South Park." Hayes died at his home on Aug. 10, 2008. He was 65.
