The Scoop: Garbage Woes
R.E. Graswich
COMMENTARY (CBS13) ―
Could the garbage fees for people in Sacramento actually be a bargain? I have the scoop.
I have to admit, I've been pretty rough on the City of Sacramento when it come to garbage. I don't mind separating the trash from the recyclables, but I hate the idea of having yet another can for grass clippings and green waste.
Well, I'm going to eat my words. I've been checking how things work in England, and compared to the British, we've got it made. In England, you can get fined $215 for not closing the lid on your garbage can. And they are putting computer chips in trash cans to weigh your garbage.
Here in Sacramento, our trash cans are big and ugly, but you can stuff them to the breaking point. And here's another good thing about Sacramento garbage it gets shipped to Nevada, so we don't have to deal with it. When it comes to garbage, Sacramento is a little slice of heaven.
