Off The Beaten Path: Pet Taxi

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― Pat Cutting has a bright idea and is putting it into motion in Oroville. Call up Pat and she'll head to your home or business and pick up your pet, then take them wherever they need to go.

Today Pat is running sheltie "C.J." to the vet for owner Cindi Comer.

"It's wonderful with the busy schedule at work, I don't have to get up and leave the office. I have someone I trust implicitly with my dog and she takes her and drops her off and loves like I love her and brings her back to me safe and sound," said Cindi.

At 71, Pat just didn't want to stop working. She's a retired Marine and dog trainer who also house-sits, so this pet taxi service fits right in.

"One lady I have, her car is broken down and she has no way to get her cats into the hospital, so I take them in for her," Pat said.

C.J. gets to the vet and Pat waits for her appointment, then takes her back home. Next stop is the dog groomer where Pat dropped off Heide earlier. Groomer Ken Hillyard says the taxi service means increased business for his shop.

"It's a great service to the community," Hillyard says. "We definitely need it. Pat's a great lady and the perfect person to do it."

Pat grabs a treat for Heide and loads her in the car for the trip home. What does Pat charge to take your pet to the vet? It's actually cheaper than a human taxi.

The ground trip fee runs from $9-$14 plus mileage and Pat will shuttle around critters from fish to fowl.

"I do any kind of animal but spiders and snakes," she said.

A short drive and Heide is home. Pat heads out on another call.
