Better Body: Low Acid Coffee
by Michele Kane
SACRAMENTO (CBS 13) ―
Coffee pours into bags at a Woodland warehouse where business is starting to pour in. Two Yolo County brothers started Puroast low acid coffee a few years ago and their gourmet coffee has really taken off.
"It has this great taste along side its better for people who have stomach problems," said Kerry Sachs, Puroast low acid coffee.
Co-founder and CEO, Kerry Sachs says that it was just last December that all research was finalized and made if official that Puroast could state that its coffee has 50 percent less acid which is great for those who suffer from heart burn or stomach problems.
From house blend, French roast, de-caf and even specialty flavors, Kerry says his coffee beans are not bitter. Kerry also says that his high-tech roasting system which he learned about in South America is what helps take out the acidity.
"It's priced around Starbucks coffee 8 or 9 dollars a bag which is typical for gourmet coffee," said Kerry. "And Puroast is available in some Bel Air Markets and online. It's also getting some national and world-wide attention."
Kerry says Puroast is available in parts of Europe and Japan as well.
"In Newsweek we were featured as the number one coffee maker for low acid coffee. It was great," said Kerry.
