SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― Maybe you think you just can't afford insurance, or maybe you have it but you are paying too much. You might want to check out eHealthinsurance.com.

Six months ago, Sheri McLaughlin and her husband Patrick were paying $457 a month for their family's health insurance.

"It was too expensive," says Sheri.

But there was no way they were going to skimp on coverage.

"Having four athletes in the family you have a lot of concerns that somebody's going to be injured," explains Sheri.

So Sheri found eHealthinsurance.com, a nation-wide company with a call center, right here in the valley.

The McLaughlin's were able to cut a big chunk out of their monthly premiums, but still get the same coverage.

"We're now paying $217 a month," says Sheri.

The website is pretty fast. You just type in your zip code, enter who you want covered and a list of plans pops up in seconds.

"This is great for people who don't have any health insurance, they don't know where to go get it, they don't know how much it's going to cost," says Bob.

And if all the information is overwhelming, well that's what the call center is for.

"They both cover it as long as they're FDA approved," says Sheri.

It's filled with licensed insurance agents who are not working on commission, so they're not trying to sell you the higher-priced plans.

"These people are all about trying to get the right health insurance plan for you, based on whatever your needs are," says Bob.

"Anywhere you can pinch a penny, anywhere you can save without eliminating anything as important as insurance is huge in my mind," says Sheri.

So, the McLaughlin's were able to find a cheaper plan, saving them $240 a month. That translates into $2,280 a year.

And the reps from E-Health Insurance tell us they've seen savings higher than that.
