Buy It And Try It: Fix It

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― The Fix It claims it will remove scratches from your car, so let's see if it works.

At the U Pull 'N Save in Antelope, you'll find 10 acres of old cars and trucks. "They can pay $2 to get in with their own tools and pull their own parts," said Bill More. He says you have 1500 vehicles to choose from.

Once the cars get picked apart, they go to the monster called the Logger. It tears out the radiator, then the engine, then with it's claws it drops the cars into the cuber. The car comes out smashed into a 4 by 6-foot heap of metal which will be recycled.

By the time cars show up to the lot, they're often a bit beat up.

Fix It is supposed to work on any car, any color, so we head through the aisles searches for scratches.

We settle on a car that has three types of scratches: minor, medium and severe.

The Fix It requires three easy steps. Apply the polish to the special buffer that comes with it, buff, then dry.

We begin with the small scratch. Bill buffs it, and then wipes it off with the supplied microfiber cloth. "It looks like it did a very good job on minor scratches," he said.

Now the medium scratch just below it. "It seemed to be working effectively when it's wet, but when it's drying out…"

The scratch is improved, but it's still there. Now we try it on the big scratch.

It doesn't seem to improve it at all.

We decide to try it on another car. This one has scratches on the hood, and we squirt the goo right onto the scratch.

"So far I see magic, but it's still wet," Bill said. Sure enough, once he dries it, the scratch reappears.

After all of our testing, what does Bill think?

"I would use it for a quick fix on a minor scratch, but if I need it for something heavy duty, I'd pass," he said.

I paid $19.95 plus shipping and handling and bought it at BuyFixIt.com.
