Save With Dave: Freecycle.org

Who doesn't like getting freebies? A new website offers lots of 'em. It's called freecycle.org.

Think of it as a free eBay. Only this website helps to keep our environment clean.

Arlene Poma is a self-proclaimed pack rat. The retiree also picked up a few hobbies, like knitting and horseback riding ...that never quite got off the ground, which is why she doesn't mind giving this stuff away.

"I've started so many projects they looked horrible, i joined groups, they didn't help me, so they're going bye-bye," said Arlene.

Arlene spends a lot of time on freecycle.com. Here's how it works: you can either post stuff you don't want or look for something you might need. And get this: it's all free!

Luggage sets, a computer cart, and even jewelry. Or lawn chairs. OK, they're missing a few straps but Arlene says, somebody might be able to use it.

"Because these things are free and they go fast," said Arlene.

Arlene's gotten a lot of items from freecycle.

"This birdcage, and a workout bench," said Arlene.

They're both worth hundreds of bucks new. But Arlene says the best part about all of this is that she's helping to go green.

"Why not keep the stuff out of your landfill if you can use it again," said Arlene.

Arlene says a few people have tried to freecycle their pets. That's not recommended.

But she did save about $700 on her birdcage and exercise machine.
