Saturday is 'Museum Day.' So take your pick, because more than two dozen museums in the Sacramento area are offering free admission to everyone!
Fuel up for another go-round with 'Museum Day.' The California Automobile Museum is one of 26 that are waiving admission tomorrow; the goal us to get people to become tourists in their own town.
"When we have friends visiting in town, we try to think of things to do and I think if you've got background 'oh, I just went to Museum Day in February, there's some great things in Sacramento." So, I think it does lead to future business for the museums, its great exposure for them," says Mike, a local Sacramento resident.
And it's a great chance for you to check out some museums you didn't even know existed.
"The California Medical History Museum is one that's very interesting. You see king of grotesque tools they had back in the mid-1800s and how they fixed broken bones and that type of thing."
Talk about the need for health care reform; hand operated skull drills? And this is how they used to do amputations in the field!
Of course, some of the more popular museums will also be free, like the Crocker Art Museum, the Aerospace Museum, even the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town are participating. But you can expect those to be the most crowded tomorrow.
The California Museum on 10th and O Street is serving as the central point, that's where you can take free shuttles to some of the other museums on the list.
If a family of four gets an early start and visited the zoo, the California Museum and the Crocker Art Museum, they could save $83 on admission costs.
