Save With Dave: Save $32.50 On 3-D Movies
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
With new movies like Avatar and 3-D films, ticket sales are skyrocketing at the movies. And so are the prices because of all the technology, but we have a way to make it a little more bearable.
Sure, movies like Avatar changed filmmaking, but they also raised prices with that 3-D technology. So here are some ideas to offset that cost.
The obvious, of course, is going at off-times. Weekdays or matinees are usually cheaper.
Next, think about used gift cards. Websites like Plasticjungle.com let people sell cards. You can get a $25 movie card for less. And they worked at the concession stand!
Think about vouchers! Some of the large chains sell 50 packs for snacks. You can save from $0.75 or more on the concessions and they don't expire.
Lastly, avoid ticket sites! Sure Fandango and movie sites are convenient, but there are surcharges, and if you buy more than two or three tickets, it adds up and whittles down your wallet.
Where those internet sites do help is its opening night and tickets are hard to get. Still, or producer has a family of six, so going to the movies is not just a treat, it's an expensive event in his household. He used these ideas and doing it save $32.50!
