Save With Dave: Save $1400 With YouTube University
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
If you wanted to learn a subject but didn't want to hit the classroom, just break out your computer.
It might seem a little strange to think you could find algebra next to Gregg Allman, if you're looking to learn, don't discount the information superhighway.
YouTube, the Google-owner video sharing site, has been partnering with several universities over the last several years.
Using the channel "YouTube Edu," more than 100 schools joined the online partnership, including Stanford, MIT, Harvard, and even Berkeley.
While there are promotional videos, like campus tours there, but there is also classroom content or full lectures. Many schools even post their guest lectures or a full semester's course online.
You can also get some online content on music and video sites like iTunes as well.
While you may not be able to get that degree, the ability to study subjects you always wanted to learn but couldn't is now available.
And with much if it free, it's a lot cheaper than auditing a course at a university!
If you were to take, say six credits in courses just to learn some of the material. According to Sac State's website, up to six credits, with fees and tuition, you're looking at $1,409, as opposed to the free courses on YouTube!
