Save With Dave: Online Tickets Not The Cheapest

In this Save With Dave, you'll see the cheapest way to buy a ticket to a sporting event or a concert. Here's a shocker: The Internet is not the way to go.

In this day and age, you'd think everything is cheaper on the Internet, but when it comes to event tickets, the old fashioned way is probably best.

Courtnie Martin, a mother of two wanted to take her daughter Paetyn to the circus at Arco Arena.

"Its going to be my daughter's second birthday so I thought it would be a really good birthday present," said Courtnie.

So naturally she headed to the internet to look for tickets.

But hold up, she found out she'd have to pay more than $15 in extra fees, just for buying online.

"So I went to the box office because I called them and they said they don't have all the fees that Ticketmaster does," said Courtnie.

Smart move -- even smarter if you wanted to go to -- oh let's say, to the New Kids on the Block concert in October. Get those tickets online and you'll pay up to $11-$50 per ticket for a "convenience charge."

They'll mail you the tickets for free but if you need them quick, it will cost you a few bucks, just to print them off on your own computer! It's pretty universal for any venue, that if you buy at the box office, you'll escape those ticket fees.

"Gas prices are high, but if you're saving over $5 a ticket and you're buying more than one, then it is worth it to go there," said Courtnie.

Courtnie saved herself more than $15 by going to the box office. Combine that with the fees you can avoid on four New Kids on the Block tickets, and you save a grand total of $61.35.
