SACRAMENTO Last May, we told you about restaurant.com, a website where you can buy $25 gift certificates at participating restaurants for just $10. Now, we've learned a way to save even more.

"Ultimately you can get coupon codes at the end of the month that are 60 or 70% off, meaning you'll pay $3 or $4 for the $25 gift certificate," said Stephanie Nelson, coupon mom.

Stephanie Nelson has been teaching others how to save for years through her website couponmom.com.

"So the trick is, the last week of the month when you have the coupon for the deepest discount, you go ahead and buy a generic gift certificate on restaurant.com," said Stephanie.

For example, you'd pay $40 for a $100 gift certificate. Then enter the coupon code "wishbone" from her website and save another $20! On the first day of the next month redeem your $100 certificate for four $25 certificates at your favorite restaurants.

Bali wine bar and grill in Sacramento is one of the restaurants that offers discounts through restaurant.com and also through the rewards network program. By registering your credit card online, you can get 10-40 percent cash back on your total bill and your date would never know.

"You don't want to say 'excuse me, this is my coupon.' You don't do that," said Putu Knutte, owner, Bali wine bar & grill.

Even the restaurant doesn't know you're a rewards member.

"If you have a rewards network, we don't know you have a rewards right? And you bring another restaurant.com $25 dollars so you get double rewards," said Putu.
