Save With Dave: Save $140 With 'Fall's Best Buys'

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―

With the changing of the seasons come some new discounts. A new round of inventory in the stores means the summer items must go. Here is "Forbes" list of the best things to buy in the fall.

The first three deals are clearly summer items, but they're so discounted, it makes sense to buy them now and use them next year – Swimsuits, grills and lawn mowers.

Retailers just want to make room for winter stuff and they'd rather sell summer items to you at a bargain price than lose money selling them to a discounter.

Secondly, new cars are a hot item to buy. Dealers want the 2009s off the lot ASAP since most 2010s are already out. You can get 10 to 20 percent off the last year's models.

Third, jeans – back to school shopping is over, so retailers are dropping prices to sell the leftover inventory.

Fourth, fruits and vegetables – what's in season right now: Apples, cranberries, honeydew melon, oranges, Bartlett pears, tangerines and grapefruit.

Fifth, toys – retailers are already dropping prices on toys hoping parents will come back for holiday shopping.

Sixth, cookware – you can find some great promotions around the holidays.

Seventh, electronics – same deal here, it might be worth standing in line for a "Black Friday" special.

And finally, wedding dresses. If you shop in December, stores are less crowded as owners are trying to increase sales for the year, so you can negotiate a lower price easily.

Just with a quick check at Sears, and we found lawnmowers on sales with a savings as high as $140.
