Save With Dave: Save Big With CVS Pharmacy
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
Stephanie Nelson frequents CVS Pharmacy, but you can get tons of deals at other drug stores too. It all comes down to a little planning, a little clipping and lots and lots of savings.
If you shop at CVS, you earn "extra bucks."
"You have a coupon for two dollars off Cottonelle purchase of twelve pack or more," says one CVS employee.
Or how about five dollars off a purchase of $25 or more, that's not "like" cash.
It is cash at CVS, so if you throw extra bucks away, you are ripping up money.
Coupon mom, Stephanie Nelson, says by using extra bucks and coupons, she gets many items for free. And in some case, Stephanie not only gets items free, she actually "makes" money.
Stephanie says it doesn't take a lot of work, just a little planning. The secret she says is in the stacking the savings.
"And you are cherry picking the best deals each week. One week it will be free toothpaste. The next week it will be free shampoo and over the course of a month you end up getting a lot of personal care products and even some groceries for free," explains Stephanie.
Although Stephanie says drugstores aren't always the place to find the best prices on groceries, CVS usually has one or two grocery items with prices that are hard to beat. This week, it's Kellogg's Frosted Mini Wheats.
"The Kellogg's cereal actually sells for $4.39, but it's on sale for $3.33 and they'll give you $5 in extra bucks when you buy three boxes," says Stephanie.
By the time Stephanie gets to the checkout counter, with tax the total is $41.32. After the cashier subtracts all the coupons and the CVS bucks, the total was $1.33.
Stephanie is ready to roll her savings over into bargains next week.
It does take some planning but not that much, and it's amazing how much money you can save on items you use everyday.
She saved $39.99 that day, but also got $18 back!
