Save With Dave: Save $129 By Shopping Consignment
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
You love your little black dress, but everyone's seen you it. So, sell it, make some money and maybe find something new.
In this economy consignment shops are buzzing, just ask Nancy Darrah, owner of Belle Mode Consignment Boutique in Folsom.
"We're doing very well, we've been up all year," says Nancy.
Consignment stores like Belle Mode not only pay you for your gently used clothing, you can also purchase some real bargains.
"Rock & Republic, and their normally say between $250 and $350, we sell them for $79," Nancy says holding up a designer pair of jeans.
Customers can bring in their clothes, cleanly pressed, on hangers, and get paid 40% of what they're sold for.
What doesn't sell after 90 days is donated to charity.
If you're buying, you'll find great items at 50 to 70 percent below retail, and they have some great items!
"People are looking for money, but then a lot of people are also recycling. They're tired of the old so they bring them in to try and make a little money to buy new," says Nancy.
Now would be a great time to sell the old and buy some new summer threads.
Take a pair of Coach sandals we saw at the boutique, which would normally go for around $229, but at Belle Mode you pay $70, saving you $159. And if you were the one selling the item, you would pocket a cool $28!
