Save With Dave: California State Fair
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
The California State Fair is well underway. Don't worry, it doesn't have to break the bank! Here are some good deals down at Cal Expo.
For starters, there's free admission for certain people. Kids 12 and under pay no admission on Tuesdays.
Kids who read three books and get a form signed by their parents get three free rides!
"If you happen to get a season pass and you want to come back every single day with a different three books you can," said Erica Manuel, assistant general manager.
Seniors, Fridays are your days. There's no admission and the first 500 who visit the senior area get a free pedometer.
Tomorrow, first responders and members of the armed forces guess what? You get in free with ID.
Everyone escapes the $8 parking fee on Mondays and Thursday just as long as you get there before 4 p.m.
"If you come to the fair any day there's a concert and you get in line at 4:00 you can get a wrist band and get a seat for free," said Erica.
Oh yea, and did we mention all the free entertainment? There are concerts, sea lions, petting farms, food sampling including desserts, entrees and appetizers in the Save Mart building.
Add to your landscaping with a free tree from the forest center. And don't forget the free water and air conditioned buildings. That's a big one in the dog days of summer.
Say you take two kids to the fair on a Tuesday, and they've both read three books, they get three free rides each -- that saves parents $30 on admission and ride tickets for the youngsters.
