On June 12, 2009, all full-power television stations in the United States will stop broadcasting in analog and switch to 100% digital broadcasting.
Digital broadcasting promises to provide a clearer picture and more programming options and will free up airwaves for use by emergency responders.

If you want to keep your current analog TV, you have two options:
1. You can buy a converter box
2. Connect to cable or satellite service
The government has created the
converter box coupon program to help analog TV owners purchase eligible converter boxes. The coupons are worth $40 toward the purchase of a converter box.

There are four ways to request a coupon:
1. Apply Online (

2. Call the 24-hour hotline 1-888-DTV-2009. Hearing-impaired consumers can use the TTY service by calling: 1-877-530-2634 (English/TTY) or 1-866-495-1161 (Spanish/TTY)
3. Mail a coupon application to: PO Box 2000, Portland, OR 97208-2000 (

Once you get a coupon you have 90 days to use it.
