Good Day Sacramento Internship
CW31's Morning show, Good Day Sacramento, is the highest rated morning show in Sacramento. The 5-hour live broadcast has a unique format ranging from hard news to community features. The variety of Good Day Sacramento programming makes it the news leader it is. The show boasts experienced and talented staff from which students can learn a great deal about producing, writing, working in the studio and the field as well as booking guests.Good Day Sacramento interns will experience first-hand breaking news in the field as well as in-studio interviews. He or she can see can see how photographers set-up live shots for live talkbacks. Interns will learn how to gather news, what is newsworthy, how the news team works together and how to write for broadcast and interact with sources. They will also learn how guests are booked and how to escort guests. They will learn how to edit, run the teleprompter, how to use iNews, read the wires, the FCC rules, planning formats in iNews, learn to print rundowns and scripts and learn how transmission works. They will also have the chance to write, spend time with producers in the booth and log tape for reporters. Students interested in applying to be a Good Day Sacramento Intern should have excellent communication and writing skills, enjoying being creative as well as a passion for news.
