Save With Dave: Vacation Savings

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― If you're starting to plan a summer vacation, there's a couple of ways you can save hundreds of dollars on airfare.

The internet is full of money saving travel sites. All offering budget-minded traveler's discounts and deals. But a new website says it's doing things a little differently. Yapta.com tracks airplane fares, finding the lowest rates.

Yapta, which stands for "Your Amazing Personal Travel Assistant," says it's a pretty simple concept. Since ticket prices fluctuate so much, tracking those prices will save you money.

Once you sign up, the site alerts you if the price for the airfare you're trying to book drops. And get this – they say even after you buy your ticket and the price drops, you can get a refund or travel credit. The catch – you only get the refund if you bought your ticket on the airline's website.

A plane ticket that costs $258.81 on one day can drop in the next few weeks to $218.80. That's a savings to you of $40.
