Speed Limit Reduced At Folsom Lake As Water Drops

FOLSOM (CBS13) ― Plunging water levels are taking some of the summer fun out of Folsom Lake.

Beginning today, the new speed limit for boaters on Folsom Lake will be 5-miles an hour effectively ending boating sports like water skiing.

This is because of the extremely low water levels at about 400 feet.  The state considers the lake full when it is at 466 feet.

The low water may start affecting access points also as only two boat ramps remain open.

The Hobie ramp and Brown's Ravine and the Granite Bay stage 1 ramp at Granite Bay.

Although the Granite Bay ramp could close any day.

All boats had to be removed from the lake marinas on July 2 because of the low water levels.
