Strawberry Red Wine Sauce
Strawberry Red Wine Sauce
Serves 4
8 oz. Fresh Strawberries, Hulled, Cleaned, and Cut into ¼" slices
2 Tablespoons Sugar (white or brown both work)
¼-½ Cup Red Wine or Port
Pinch Kosher Salt
Serving:
Favorite Vanilla Ice Cream
Dark Chocolate Chunks (Optional)
Roasted Chopped Almonds (Optional)
Simmer the strawberries, sugar, and red wine in a small sauce pan over medium heat until strawberries are soft (about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool.
If you'd like, blend this mixture a bit to create more of a sauce consistency. Strain if desired.
Serve over a scoop of your favorite vanilla ice cream. Top off with optional toppings such as dark chocolate chunks and chopped almonds. Can be made up to two days ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
