Alfalfa Sprouts Recalled Over Salmonella Fear

Supermarkets are pulling packages of alfalfa sprouts off their store shelves after the sprouts were recalled due to salmonella fears.

Save Mart and Lucky Stores say they are removing the sprouts supplied by Salad Cosmo USA in Dixon.  Salad Cosmo is voluntarily recalling the sprouts after routine testing found them to be at risk for salmonella.

According to Salad Cosmo USA, 2.5 oz and 1 lb. packages with the following "Use By" codes are being recalled: 0219, 0220, 0221, 0222, 0223, 0224, 0226, 0227, 0228, 0229, 0302, and 0303. Codes are located on the front label of the 2.5 oz. packages and on the left side of the 1 lb. bags near the product name.

So far no illnesses have been reported.

Save Mart and Lucky Stores say customers can return the sprouts for a full refund.
