Report: State Spent $75M On Cars, Furniture
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
A new report shows several state agencies spent millions of dollars on cars and furniture despite the state's financial crisis.
The report by the Assembly Committee on Accountability and Administrative Review totaled up $75 million dollars in spending on things like new vehicles.
The report from the committee shows $45 million spent on new cars, $30 million spent on new furniture and roughly $2 million in conference costs.
Some of the biggest spenders in the report are the California Air Resources Board, the Department of Motor Vehicles, Caltrans, and the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Those departments are now in the hot seat. Tomorrow, the Assembly Committee on Accountability and Administrative Review plans to call the state agency managers to explain their spending at a hearing.
