Kevin Johnson Sworn In As Sacramento's Mayor
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
Kevin Johnson was sworn in as Mayor of the City of Sacramento at a private ceremony at City Hall on Tuesday afternoon.
Johnson was sworn in by a city clerk and afterwards, took a tour of his new offices. He will preside over tonight's City Council meeting at 6 p.m. Johnson says he has already hired several staff members, including a chief of staff.
"I'm just anxious to get ready to go to work," Johnson said. "I'm looking forward to working out of the fifth floor and moving the city forward."
At a celebration in November, Johnson pledged to take actions intended to bring rapid change to the city, including a full audit of the city's finances to find ways to reduce a looming budget deficit.
