An Elk Grove couple claims that PG&E killed their cat while trimming trees back from power lines on their property.
Susan Young and Judy Herring said that PG&E recently came to their property to trim their trees away from their power line, but cut down too many trees and didn't pay attention to their surroundings.
They say they found their cat, Smokey, dead under a pile of branches cut down by PG&E workers.
"They didn't care, they just didn't care," Judy said.
PG&E spokesperson Brian Swanson says he's never seen an accident like this in his 13 years on the job.
"That's an extremely unfortunate situation," Swanson said. "Today is the first day we heard about the cat."
A PG&E employee will meet with the couple later this week to talk about the accident, but right now, there's no consoling Susan and Judy.
"They might be sorry now, but they weren't thinking when they were doing it," Susan said.
The couple also say PG&E cut down way more trees than they needed to. PG&E says they performed legal work on their property, and hope to solve the problems with Susan and Judy in the next few days.
