Couple Hires Detective, Psychics In Search For Dog
BENICIA (CBS13) ―
How far would you go to find a missing pet? One Benicia couple has hired a pet detective and six psychics to bring their Yorkie back home.
"Cinnamon" escaped last Wednesday through a gate, and her heartbroken family immediately launched a massive effort to find her.
"I'm just praying that whoever has her, whoever found her, please bring her back home to us," said Batool Bernal.
The couple, Batool and Zack Cooper, quickly hired a pet detective and her team of search dogs to help find Cinnamon. They've posted fliers, mailed out postcards, hired a company to call 2,500 neighboring homes, placed ads online and in the local paper, and consulted pet psychics -- six of them.
Their message is clear: They love their dog, and will pay a lot to get her back.
"Yes, we are offering a substantial award, and people question that," Batool said. "They say, '$5,000? Wow, for a dog?' But to us, she's our baby."
The reward is getting people's attention, because the phone keeps ringing, but unfortunately, many of the calls are pranks from people after the money, and one call sounded like a setup.
"There was this weird moment where I thought, 'Man, what am I getting into?'" Zack said. "It's scary, maybe I'm going to walk into a trap."
Cinamon's owners will continue to post signs until they get some information. They're hoping someone will come forward, and they say they will hand over the $5,000 for the pooch, no questions asked.
