Bus Accident Kills 40 Passengers In Uganda
KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) ―
A senior police officer says a bus has overturned and caught fire in Uganda, killing 40 passengers, including four children.
Many of the passengers have burned to death in the accident at Kingo, 130 miles west of Kampala, the capital, says Steven Tanuyi, police chief of Masaka District, which includes Kingo.
Tanuyi says 10 people have escaped the burning bus, and are severely injured. They have been taken to Masaka Hospital, he says.
The accident happened Thursday when the bus driver tried to overtake a trailer, Tanuyi says.
