After a series of delays, a star witness could finally take the stand Monday in the child pornography trial of singer R. Kelly.
A woman who claims she had a threesome with the singer and the underage girl at the center of the case is expected to testify, reports CBS station WBBM-TV in Chicago.
Lisa Van Allen, from Georgia, is supposed to take the witness stand and tell the jury she had a three-way sexual encounter with Kelly and the alleged victim.
Van Allen reportedly had an affair with the singer and can identify him and the young teen on the tape, which is the basis for the whole trial.
Kelly has been charged with 14 counts of child pornography for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl, identified as his goddaughter.
Monday's witness is the prosecution's strongest.
"She's important because she could add a lot to the prosecution's case if she testifies. She's the only witness who could put R. Kelly and the 13-year-old together having sex. It adds to the videotape, to show that the videotape is credible, that it's reliable," said WBBM-TV Legal Analyst Irv Miller.
The woman's testimony was delayed for several days because her ex-boyfriend surfaced last week and told Kelly's attorneys that he has information that can refute Van Allen's testimony. He gave a deposition last week and is expected to testify for the defense.
Damon Pryor is listed as a defense witness, so he wouldn't testify until the prosecution is finished with its case.
It's not clear whether or not Kelly will testify on his own behalf as well.
