Police in Washington have charged a soldier with child endangerment after discovering that he allegedly waterboarded his three-year-old daughter for failing to say the alphabet.
Joshua Tabor, who served 15 months in Iraq, allegedly told police he used the illegal torture technique on the little girl because he grew frustrated with her refusal to say the ABCs, reports the
New York Daily News. The paper also reports that Tabor claimed he used the technique, most notable for its use on terror suspects, because his daughter is afraid of water.
Police discovered the girl hiding in a locked bathroom after coming to Tabor's residence upon receiving complaints from neighbors about the war veteran creating a disturbance, reports
ABCNews.com.
Tabor's girlfriend reportedly told police the soldier has anger issues.
Tabor reportedly told police that he never ran water over the girl's face, but held her head backwards in the sink, according to media reports.
Tabor was arrested on Jan. 31 and is expected to be back in court on Feb. 16. He was released on $10,000 bail has been ordered to remain at the Lewis-McChord base in Tacoma, according to ABCNews.com.
