Michael Phelps Involved In Car Accident

Baltimorean and Olympic gold medalist has been involved in a car accident, CBS station WJZ-TV reported.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says Phelps was driving a late-model Cadillac Escalade Thursday night when it and a Honda Accord collided. Guglielmi says the female driver of the Accord was "shaken up" and taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

The accident happened Thursday evening at the intersection of Calvert and Biddle Streets in downtown Baltimore, WJZ-TV reported.

Phelps was evaluated at the scene but did not require medical attention.

Baltimore City police do say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and that Phelps was interviewed by police before being allowed to leave the accident scene.
