6 Injured In Swap Meet After Driver Suffer Seizure
CALEXICO, Calif. (AP) ―
Six people are injured after a motorist suffers a seizure while driving in the pedestrian aisle of a swap meet.
Authorities say the driver appeared to be in his late 20s and was a patrol worker at Las Palmas Swap Meet in Calexico, about 120 miles east of San Diego.
Interim Fire Chief Pete Mercado says there were thousands of pedestrians at the swap meet Wednesday, one of its busiest days. The driver lost control shortly before 9:30 a.m. in one of the less crowded areas of the swap meet, he said.
A 58-year-old woman who was carrying a baby was seriously injured and five others suffered moderate injuries. The baby escaped with scrapes and minor bruises, Mercado says.
