Furthering Education During Recession

QUESTION:  I've heard that in times of recession it's a good time to get more schooling. Does this make good money sense?

ANSWER: I think continuing your education is a tremendous idea.  Be it during a recession, or as part of a life long endeavor to set your self apart from other people competing for jobs in the workplace.  However, if possible, I would try to avoid going into debt to accomplish this.  I would also suggest looking into whether your employer has a policy in place that may assist you with your tuition.

Think of further education as being a differentiator that reduces the number of potential competitors in whatever job you are looking for.
