(9/11/07) Sleep Strategies For Parents

In the 7:00 hour we shared some sleep strategies for parents. I found this article in Parents Magazine and shared the five tips. Number one on the list for not getting a good night's sleep is worrying too much before bed. Experts say let your body go through the natural sleep process and try to turn off your mind about work, kids, finances, etc. I think that is easier said than done.

In the 8:00 and 9:00 hours we were live at Birch Lane Elementary School in Davis where we showed off their impressive recycling program. This school is 100% about recycling and saving the planet. Thanks to Judy Leatherman, kids get to take care of four organic gardens and they use their trash to make compost with WORMS! The kids love seeing the process and how it works and they take pride in this. We also showed some unique recycled artwork. I didn't know that those Capri Sun and Koolaid Jammer wrappers are not recyclable and end up in the landfill, so Mary Perkins and several children came up with great designs using them like Capri Sun Purses, and table mats. The kids were so kind and so resourceful. I had such a good time with them especially doing the limbo under a hand knit worm!!
