Mom's World: Holiday Chaos
Being a mom can be so rewarding, but during the holidays it can get downright stressful. I have so many things on my mind right now, get the cards done, shop, wrap, bake, oh and don't forget the Christmas parties at school. "Did I sign up to bring 25 cupcakes?" "What do I get the teachers for Christmas?" You know they can only have so many #1 Teacher ornaments. I am finding gift cards are my friend. They have helped me take the pressure off of wrapping and deciding what to get.
I know it's not as personal, but when you're a working mom I love to find the shortcuts.
We did take the boys to San Francisco over the weekend. We rode the cable car back and forth from Union Square to Fishermen's Wharf. We did it twice. What a thrill it was to see the city lights during the holidays. Folks were caroling and we were all bundled up enjoying each other. I have always wanted to do that. It was nice to get away for a while and be a "tourist" looking at all the busy people getting things done for the holidays. For two days I wasn't one of them.
Now I'm back at work and the stress of the holidays is there again. I have been on storm patrol. My feet have been wet all day after covering a deadly accident in the rain. "Mom's World" segments have been put on hold until Mother Nature lets up.
The one item I did buy in San Francisco was a cable car ornament to remind me of the peace I found in such a busy city. The boys are already asking when can we go back?
