Three Die In Wrong-Way Crash On Interstate 5

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― Three people were killed on Interstate 5 south of downtown Los Angeles after a motorist driving the wrong way crashed head-on against another vehicle.

California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball says the driver was heading north on southbound lanes early Friday. The man, believed to be in his early 20s, and two women in the other car were killed at the scene.

A Los Angeles County Fire dispatcher says two other victims were rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.

The CHP closed all southbound lanes at Slauson Avenue in City of Commerce around 3 a.m., backing up traffic at the start of the morning commuter rush.
